Alderman Freddrenna M. Lyle's Biography

Sworn in as Alderman, Feb. 8, 1998 to fill the un-expired term of John O. Steele, she was elected to a full term in 1999 and re-elected in 2003 and 2007. Before her appointment as Alderman, she practiced law for 18 years, achieving many professional accomplishments. She was Pres. of the Cook County Bar Assoc., a Board Member of the National Bar Assoc., a member of the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness, Co-chair of the Lawyers Committee for Harold Washington, Pres. of Project LEAP, a member of the Illinois Compensation Review Committee and a member of Gov. Blagojevich�s Transition Team on Legal Issues.

Who She Is
Raised and educated in Park Manor, Ald. Lyle continues to live in the community where her family has resided for more than 50 years. She attended Park Manor Elementary, South Shore High School, the University of Illinois at Chicago and The John Marshall Law School. Active in community affairs for many years, she is a member of the Park Manor Neighbors Community Org., Chatham Avalon Park Community Council, The NAACP, The Cook County Bar Assoc., National Conference of Negro Women and Rainbow PUSH.
Accessible and accountable, Alderman Lyle holds a Ward meeting each month, where she reports to the constituents; explains City programs and seeks input on issues of concern. She meets with constituents in her office; at Community Association, Block Club, Caps, Business Association and Town Hall meetings. She also produces a monthly newsletter and a Cable TV show. The 6th Ward Scene can be seen at 6 p.m. the 1st and 3rd Thursdays and 1 p.m. the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month on Channel 19.
